Another week has come and gone, and here we are back at Thursday Quotables; A weekly feature hosted by Bookshelf Fantasies. Anyone can take part, all you have to do is: highlight an amazing quote, line, or passage that you come across during your reading each week.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas.
(Published September 11th 2014)
I started this a year ago, and for the life of me couldn’t get into it, but this year I’m flying through it. Almost over halfway, I’m determined to finish this and Queen of Shadows in time for next Tuesday, and Empire of Storms.
It must have hurt like hell. Yet he had taken it—the beating, the burning—while she let out those words that had clouded her senses for so many weeks now. “I am… so sorry,” she started, but he held up a hand.
“You do not apologize,” he said, “for defending the people you care about.”
I really liked this little scene in this part of the story, because it’s true. You don’t give up on loved ones, and you defend them to the death essentially. I’m enjoying this book so much, so far!
